Green America reports that JPMorgan Chase is now considered the worst bank in the world for people and the planet. It turns out that banks play an enormous role in climate change, as they finance fossil fuel expansion. JPMorgan Chase is the N1 funder of fossil fuel in the world.
In the last three years, the bank’s fossil fuel financing totaled over $195 billion – almost 30% higher than the next largest bank funder. The bank has provided $67 billion in financing for fossil fuel expansion in the three years following the Paris Agreement. That is 68% higher than then next largest bank funder.
It \’s time for the bank’s CEO, Jamie Dimon, to bring his bank into line with the Agreement and stop intensifying the climate crisis.
