USA Today published a list of top 10 countries producing the most waste per capita. Armenia is ranked the sixth among them. USA Today mentions that Armenia does not produce much municipal waste. It is also among the countries producing the least amount of agricultural and construction waste. As for industrial waste, Armenia is among the world\’s biggest producers- out of almost 48 million tons of waste 47.3 is industrial.
According to USA Today, the reason is that Armenia does not have processing plants or specialized sites to bury or treat waste. The whole garbage is disposed at some uncontrolled dumpsites, from which the toxins escape into the air, forming methane gas.
