The Climate Action informs that Burger King in the UKhas asked customers to bring unwanted plastic toys to their restaurants for recycling purposes. In exchange, buying a full price meal you get a kids meal free.
The new recycling strategy will separate, sort, clean and chip toys transforming them into play areas, trays, etc.
With this step, Burger King wants to reduce the environmental impact. The company has teamed up with Pentatonic, a smaller, local, UK re-processor who allows greater visibility into the recycling process.
Burger King claims the initiative will save 320 tones of single use plastic every year. This move will help them reach their 2025 goal to make all packaging 100% reusable, recyclable or compostable.
McDonald’s have also committed to reducing plastic in their kids’ meals from next year.
